Another portrait of Plamya.

I experimented with hatching instead of screentones for this one – or, rather, in conjunction with screentones, as most of the hatching is set at 50% tone instead of being solid black lines. Which is completely invisible in an internet-low-res image, but would be visible in prints. I’m still undecided on whether i prefer the tones or just grey lines or, for that matter, tones applied in the more common way of selecting an area and filling it completely with tones.

Oddly enough, this way worked out much more quickly than the normal method of selecting an area for screentones, which seems a bit backwards as i’m technically drawing each line individually in an area instead of just marking the edges of the area and putting in some sort of lined screentone. Then again, many years of trad art training means i’m rather used to throwing down many lines in a short time.
