[Soft/Hard]Ware

I have always been fascinated by the balance between the natural and industrialised worlds, as well as the way this balance affects humanity itself. Cyborgs and androids – the ultimate example of humans uniting with technology – are of particular interest.

Like the mechs themselves, my artworks are a combination of traditional and digital. I start my work in pencil to get an immediate texture which takes longer to establish digitally, then scan the work so I can take advantage of layers and experiment with colours. By painting in transparent washes of colour with each colour on a different Photoshop layer, I can temporarily hide individual colours to see how well they emphasise the theme of the image.
